As your local RSPCA branch, we are here to support both pets and the people who care for them. We share the same values, standards and commitment to animal welfare as the national RSPCA, which is why you’ll see the same trusted name and branding. However we are independently run through our Trustees and focused entirely on supporting our local community across North Staffordshire
We are not in a position to run animal rescue or rehoming services. Instead, we focus on helping local pet owners through practical support, education and accessible services.
That means every donation, every service and every bit of support stays right here, helping local pets and the people who love them.

History
The RSPCA Staffordshire North Branch has been rescuing abused and neglected animals across North Staffordshire since 1963 . We are a separately registered charity (Registered Charity Number: 1210239) and as such we are responsible for raising our own funds locally. We do not receive any funding from the Government or Local Authorities.

Sadly from 10 April 2025 we are no longer able to offer a rehoming facility We are currently looking at other ways we can help until replacement accommodation can be found.
How we Operate
The Branch is run through a committee of volunteer Trustees and we are always looking for new volunteers with professional experience in various fields that would contribute to our work and the development of our Branch.
What we do
We are committed to promoting good, responsible pet ownership throughout the Branch area, which covers the whole of North Staffordshire, including Stoke on Trent and the Staffordshire Moorlands. We give talks to interested bodies spreading the word of good animal welfare and hope shortly to expand our programme and other forms of help. We are working with Vets and other animal Charities to offer welfare advice and assistance for both domestic animals and wildlife. We also provide support to the Inspectors for local projects when the National Society is unable to do so.

Some of the ways we have helped local animals
A dog was hit by a male on an electric bike who subsequently rode off. The owners had gone to animal trusts vets in Shrewsbury who quoted £2000 for surgery for the removal of an eye. The owners were unable to afford this and had been contacting other vets to assist, but were unable to help. We contacted our Vet who provided a charity quote to us of £500. With an assistance voucher from us, a £200 from another Branch and £200 donated by us they were able to ensure the dog remained with it's family.
The eye has been removed and she is doing really well. The owners have pledged to start a pot of money in case anything happens in future.

Testimonial received. We provided some cat traps to assist with feral cats who needed treatment and the feedback was "The traps and carriers are fantastic. I’ve already used two of the carriers, and I’m trapping today using one of the MDC traps.
We have also had great success trapping a mother and her kittens who were living in a dense wooded area, using the large drop trap. Without that trap, it would have been extremely unlikely that we would have been able to catch them.
We are extremely grateful for your ongoing support, both with the neutering and welfare of the street cats, as well as your incredibly generous gift of the equipment. It has already made such a difference and will continue to be invaluable in helping us with the cats.

One of the testimonials we received; "Tia and I have just got back from the vet. She has been given some antibiotics and pain killers as her teeth are rotting and she is clearly in pain. I’ve got to give her tablet twice a day and her liquid by syringe daily. She has been referred to have them removed. Mainly on her left side is worst but she may need a few others on the right side but they will see once she is under anaesthetic.
I'm writing to share some wonderful news—Tia is back from the vets and doing so well. They ended up removing all of her teeth except her four fangs. I was absolutely heartbroken and felt so guilty for not realizing her mouth was in that state, but the vet was incredibly kind and reassured me it wasn't my fault. The main thing is that she finally has relief, and seeing the positive change in her already fills my heart.
